BEFORE YOU START:
STEP 1: MIXING, STRAND TEST & SKIN AND SCALP PROTECTION
MIXING - Put on protective gloves. Pour Olive Oil Liquid activator into olive oil creme base. Mix thoroughly. IMPORTANT: Do not apply to hair until mixture is completely smooth and without lumps. Mix for at least 1 minute. Failure to mix thoroughly may cause premature scalp irritation, hair damage, and/or hair loss.
STAND TEST - Take a small section of hair and apply the relaxer to the entire section, if it is a virgin application. Apply to the new growth only, if it is a touch-up application. Follow manufacturer's instuctions and timing guide. DO NOT continue with relaxer service if there is any indication of an unsuccessful strand test. If the strand test is successful, proceed with the realxer service following manufacturer's directions.
SKIN AND SCALP PROTECTION - Before applying relaxer, apply the skin and scalp protector to the entire hairline, the ears, and the scalp to prevent any chemical irritation.
STEP 2: APPLICATION
Section hair for ease of relaxer application. Set timer and begin applying relaxer tot he most resistant area first. Apply relaxer approximately 1/8" from the scalp to the entire section, if it is a virgin application. Apply approximately 18" from the scalp to the new growth only, if it is a touch-up application. After all sections have been completed, apply to the hairline last. This section has the most delicate hair.
STEP 3: SMOOTHING
Smoothing is an essential step in the relaxing process. Do not let the relaxer sit on the hair. Smoothing allows you to achieve the desired straightness by evenly distributing the relaxer. Begin smoothing the relaxer where you began the relaxer application using the back of the comb or the cushions of your fingers. COntinue smoothing the relaxer in the order the relaxer was applied. Continue smoothing until timer goes off or you have reached the desired straightness for the hair.
STEP 4: RINSING
After smoothing is completed, rinse all relaxer fromt he hair, including the nape area, ears and hairline with warm water. Rinse for a minimum of 5 minutes. Improper rinsing can cause damage to skin and/or over-processing of hair.
STEP 5: NEUTRALIZING
Apply a generous amount of the Olive Oil Neutralizing shampoo to the hair and work into a rich lather. Ri
